TRIUMPH
YOUTH MINISTRY
The Youth Council is a core group of ten youth
dedicated to the youth ministry to help provide leadership and
direction for the youth department. The Director of Youth appoints
them with guidance from Youth Sunday School teachers, youth advisors
and youth workers. This core group of youth assists with the coordination
of youth activities acting as liaisons to the youth department
at large.
The opportunity to sit on the Youth
Council should not be taken lightly, but should be considered
both a privilege and an honor. Youth Council members are expected
to be active members of the church. Active member is defined as:
regularly attending worship services on Sundays, regularly attending
Sunday School and/or a Bible Study, as well as participating in
at least one other church ministry such as Voices of Triumph (or
Music Ministry), the Youth Usher Board, or the Youth Deacons Ministry.
As stated, there are ten members of
the Youth Council. One representative from each grade, grades
six through nine. Then there are two representatives from each
grade, grades ten through twelve. Once a member is placed on the
council they are there until they graduate. New members are introduced
only when vacancies exist due to graduation, members leaving the
church or when a current member decides to resign his or her position
on the Youth Council. Also, parents may request that their child
be removed from Youth Council at any time.
The Youth Council is designed after the Disciples Model used by our Lord Jesus Christ. It allows the Director of Youth to actively work with a core group of youth leaders; teaching leadership skills, promoting spiritual development, and challenging personal excellence in all areas. With this model, Youth Council members are trained to go make disciples of their peers and to be examples of godly leadership, remembering that they are still growing in the Lord as well. A new council is being seated NOW! Want more information contact Rev. Kenny ASAP! Or See Deacon Byron Walker!
